Sky View sits high on the mountainside above Whittier, North Carolina, close to the top of the road with only one house beyond it. Step inside to knotty pine cathedral ceilings, warm hardwood floors and a floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace, with walls of windows framing ridgeline after ridgeline. Even the granite kitchen has a mountain view from the sink.
Mornings start with a Keurig coffee in the breakfast nook. Afternoons belong to the trails, the river or the country club pool. Evenings end in the brand-new hot tub on the deck, with the Smokies fading to blue on the horizon, or around the fire pit, or downstairs in the game room, where the pool table, Pac-Man, Golden Tee and Pop-A-Shot settle every family rivalry. Over the holidays, Gail & Erik deck the whole cabin out for Christmas.
